Like I said in one of the other threads. If we finish in the top 3 of the SEC we are in. Right now it looks like 12-6 is pretty safe. We have to have all 3 home games. If we win one of the three road games we would be 13-5. As bad is the SEC is this I think 13-5 gets in. We are on course to get a two day bye in the SEC tourney a win or two would help seal it.

Jerry Palm tweeted yesterday that he didn't even think running the table except losing to the Gators would get us in. That ugly Auburn loss came at a horrible time and its sticking in everyone's mind.

There's only 2 teams left that would be considered "marquee" wins and both are on the road. Not looking all that great, ATM. _________________

Barring a major run in the SEC tourney, I think we may really have to win out. We just don't have any quality wins on our résumé (UK looks a lot less impressive after they got whipped by Tennessee yesterday). Road wins over Florida and Ole Miss (or one of them at the very least) or actually winning the SEC tourney may be our only chances.

And who knows, we may actually win the SEC tourney just because the rest of the league is so bad. Florida and Mizzou are the only teams that I think we really don't have much of a shot against. But if one of them knocks out the other and we can pull off a major upset...it could happen.

I honestly don't understand why it seems like we shouldn't get in. If you take out the stretch without Steele (which the selection committee says they do with other teams) then this team has had a good year except for the loss to Auburn. To say that if Florida is our only loss the rest of the year that we still won't get in is ridiculous. I don't know many 22-9 (14-4) teams that fail to make the tournament, but hey I'm not paid to project this stuff so I guess I'm just an idiot.

The selection committee takes into consideration injuries and we did play the month of December with only 8 scholarship players missing Carl and Steele. All of the chances for quality wins came on the road at Cincy, VCU and Mizzou all tough places to play not to makes excuses. Home loses to Mercer and Tulane killed. CAG's approach is right one game at a time. The game at LSU will be tough they are playing much better especially at home and as a general rule of thumb we don't play well in Oxford. Oh and Jerry Palm can kiss my a-- he is always a Bama hater. Roll Tide !

The SEC is SO bad this year our conference power rating sucks! I'm pretty sure we are behind all 5 other BCS conferences, the Missouri Valley, the Atlantic 10 and who knows who else. Florida is a quality team, Missou is pretty good, UK WAS good, and Ole Miss had a hot start but are fading down the stretch. The rest of the league is just different degrees of suckage and we happen to have slipped into second place for now. Auburn, Vandy, Miss Stake and USCe are 4 of the worst teams in America, especially from a so called power conference. And we have a horrible loss to one of them. I can see the SEC getting only two teams in and that would be UF and Missou. UK is probably the 3rd provided they can manage to not implode down the stretch without Noel. If there are a lot of tourney upsets, 2 or 3 may be all we get in this year. We are squarely on the bubble and at the mercy of all the forces and variables that entails. We have two remedies available to us: win out or win the SEC tourney. Neither is likely. What has happened to SEC hoops? I can remember not so long ago when this league had (besides perennial power Kentucky) Wimp, Dale Brown, Nolan Richardson, Hugh Durham, Rick Barnes, and even Sonny Smith.
